China vows support of debt-plaqued Eurozone countries

Hansen Sinclair – AHN News Reporter

Beijing, China (AHN) – According to Jiang Yu, a spokeswoman for China’s foreign ministry, China will support the eurozone countries during the debt crisis that has spread throughout the region. Yu said the zone would become a major market for foreign exchange investments.

Some eurozone countries are battling extremely high debt levels.

The International Monetary Fund and the European Union have pledged tens of billions to help bail out Greece and the Irish Republic in particular.

There is speculation that Portugal may also be seeking assistance, and maybe Spain.

China has large reserves of foreign currency, mainly U.S. dollars.

China’s Vice-Premier Wang Qishan said earlier this week he supported the IMF and EU in their assistance to struggling countries.
